Caroline Sarkozy, Laurent Bourgois
Interior Designer and Architect

For the past decade, designer Caroline Sarkozy and architect Laurent Bourgois have collaborated on high-end interior projects around the globe. Previously, Sarkozy worked under the legendary French designer Andrée Putman where she refined her vibrant, eclectic aesthetic, informed in part by a nomadic childhood spent traveling the world. Bourgois — an alum of the prestigious École des Beaux-Arts — spent time in the studio of Jacques Grange before going solo to create furniture and architecture that revealed his passion for raw, organic materials. The pair’s room for the recent AD Intérieurs 2014 show was inspired by Marie Antoinette’s delicate, feminine elegance and demonstrated their old-meets-new sensibility: Incorporating a settee that once belonged to the queen herself, Sarkozy and Bourgois commissioned a group of French artisans to create fresh takes on 18th-century-style boiserie and painting.
